Deputy Warden/Security Rob Howerton

Image of Deputy Warden Rob HowertonRob Howerton began his career in corrections as a Correctional Officer in 1987 at the Vanderburgh Community Corrections Complex in Evansville, Indiana.  In 1989 he began work for the Indiana Department of Corrections at the Branchville Correctional Facility as a Correctional Officer and was subsequently promoted to Correctional Sergeant in 1991, Correctional Release Coordinator in 1993, Unit Manager II in 1998 and Assistant Superintendent in 2003.

Rob Howerton has also served as DOC hostage negotiator, SIT-CON (Situation Control) Team Leader for seven years, Certified DOC Firearms/Chemical Agent Instructor and Trained Public Information Officer.  Additionally, he is a certified ACA Consultant/Auditor Consultant for the American Correctional Association (ACA).

Rob Howerton is a graduate of Indiana University with a concentration in Social Sciences, and a minor in Sociology.  He was promoted to his current position as Deputy Warden in August 2005.
