Biography

John Motley began his career in the Department of Corrections as the Central Office Construction Superintendent Senior with duties that included overseeing the construction of the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex in West Liberty. 

He has also served on the state design team for the new Green River Correctional Complex in Central City and has participated for the past three years on the design team for the new Elliott County prison in Sandy Hook, Ky.

In 1992 he was promoted to the position of Deputy Warden at Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex.

July 1, 2002, Motley was named the Warden at the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex in West Liberty, Ky.

Motley graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1970 with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology.  John is also a licensed pilot and former City Council member in West Liberty, Ky.
