Mission

The mission of the Frankfort Career Development Center is to promote safety for the citizens of the Commonwealth by operating an efficient, adult male, minimum security institution.

The institution's main purpose shall be to provide a safe, secure, humane environment for the population, as well as to provide an atmosphere and opportunities for a successful reintegration back into society. This purpose is accomplished through the use of objective classification, education, employment training, and social programs.

  • Prisons Receive Perfect Scores in National Re-Accreditation Audits

    Frankfort, Ky. (July 25, 2008) – Blackburn Correctional Complex (BCC) and Frankfort Career and Development Center (FCDC) received perfect scores during their re-accreditation process this week with the American Correctional Association (ACA). Both prisons received a score of 100% on non-mandatory and mandatory standards.
  • Robert Howerton Promoted to Warden at Blackburn Correctional Complex

    Frankfort, Ky. (July 3, 2008) – Kentucky Department of Corrections Deputy Commissioner Al Parke today announced the promotion of Robert Howerton to warden of Blackburn Correctional Complex in Lexington. He begins his new job on July 16.
  • Larry Chandler to Retire as Warden of KSR; J. David Donahue Will Return to Kentucky

    Frankfort, Ky. (June 24, 2008) – Larry Chandler’s name has become synonymous with Kentucky Corrections. Twenty-six years ago he walked through the doors of the Kentucky State Reformatory and went to work as a correctional officer. At the end of August when he retires as warden of KSR, he will walk out those same doors leaving his mark on not only that prison, but the entire state correctional system.
