Deputy Warden of Security Rick Pershing
Rick Pershing was hired as a Correctional Officer at KSP in June 1974. In 1978, he was promoted to Lieutenant and was again promoted in 1990 to the position of Unit Administrator II. July, 2004 he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security.
He served as the institution’s Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT) Commander for 23 years and for five years, served as the Department’s CERT Coordinator. In addition to his current responsibilities, he assists with both in-service and Department-wide training programs.
Pershing serves as the assistant fire chief of the Possum Trot/Sharpe Fire Department in Marshall County, a position he’s held for 23 years. He teaches high school-age Sunday school class at the North Marshall Church of Christ and is an American Softball Association (ASA) certified umpire in four different age divisions.
A native of Marshall County, Pershing and his wife, Bonnie, reside there. They have one daughter, Jessica, and a grandson named Weston.
