Employment

For an application in Microsoft Word 97 format click here, then choose "File" and "Save As" to save the application to your computer for later use.   Applications may also be obtained  from the http://personnel.ky.gov/ in the Forms Library.

Make sure you complete the application completely and accurately.   List all counties that you are willing to work.  Ensure that all positions for which you are applying in the upper right-hand corner of the application.  Upon completion of the application, you can:

1.      Complete the item requesting to schedule a Merit Test at a regional testing center, mail it to the address on the top of your application.  You will be notified of the time and date for your scheduled exam.

2.      Take your completed application and original verification of education to the Personnel Cabinet Office at 200 Fair Oaks Lane in Frankfort, Kentucky.  No advanced scheduling is required.  The office is open for testing Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EST except for state holidays and the second Tuesday of each month.   The Personnel Cabinet suggests that you arrive as early as possible.  

NOTE:  Applicants must score in the top 5 scores on a test to be placed on a register for a position.  You must be on the register for that position in order to be considered for employment.  Please note that testing is not required for Correctional Officer and Medical Staff.
